April 8th was Stroll N Roll North Dakota. A statewide walking event to honor National Public Health Week that involved both the Ellendale and Oakes communities. Our staff had a total of 49,900 steps altogether. We walked with approximately 200 different people, joined 9 different school classes between Ellendale and Oakes schools, and had three public walks. Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness month. A month dedicated to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote the importance of mental well-being for people of all ages. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. This month encourage open conversations and remind yourself that seeking help is a sign of strength!
Growth & Development
Our nurses provided education to 5th and 6th graders in Ellendale and Oakes about growth and development. Each student receives their own hygiene products and information regarding physical, emotional, and social changes. As students are starting to experience these changes, it is important to provide education to and create a safe space for questions.
Dental
Dental education was provided in preschool through 2nd grade at Ellendale school. During these sessions, students learned the importance of brushing and flossing, as well as how nutrition impacts their dental health. Each student was also provided with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss to support healthy habits at home.
