Hello, March!
March is known as Colorectal Cancer Awareness month. This month is dedicated to raising awareness, increasing screening rates, supporting patients, and promoting prevention for the second deadliest cancer in the United States.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers with regular screening. Adults age 45 and older are encouraged to talk with a healthcare provider about screening options.
Know the signs:
- Change in bowel patterns
- Unexplained weight loss
- Persistent stomach discomfort
- Blood in stool

Vigilant Parent Presentation
Dickey County Health District in partnership with BCI will be providing a Vigilant Parent Presentation at the Ellendale School on March 30th from 6–8PM. A two-hour hands-on instructional program for parents that provides online safety training. Watch our Facebook page for more info in the next couple of weeks!
February Re-Cap
Dickey County Health District offered FREE cholesterol screenings during the month of February to all community members. We completed approximately 35 cholesterol screenings! We provided 155 red t-shirts to our community partners to help raise awareness for Healthy Heart Month.
