North Dakota Public Health Conference
Dickey County Health District staff attended the second annual North Dakota Public Health Conference in Bismarck in early May. It provided valuable education regarding community health, environmental health, substance use prevention, food safety, and infectious disease. A plethora of new information, ideas, and resources that we can bring back to better serve our Dickey County residents.
Blood Drive
Dickey County Health District proudly partnered with Vitalant to host a community blood drive on May 27th at the Nazarene Church in Ellendale. We are grateful to the approximately 35 individuals who generously donated blood to help support patients in need. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this event a success. Your generosity and commitment to helping others truly make a difference in the lives of many.

Sun Safety Tips for Summer
Spending time outdoors is a great way to enjoy the summer months, but it's important to protect your skin and stay safe in the heat. Too much sun exposure can increase the risk of sunburn, dehydration, heat-related illness, and skin cancer.
- Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply every 2 hours.
- Wear sunglasses, hats, and lightweight protective clothing when outdoors.
- Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, even for a short time.
- Take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas when temperatures are high.
